FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – SPA ETIQUETTE 

Is membership required to visit Eden Day Spa?
A membership is not required; but members do enjoy extended benefits.  For additional information, please speak with an Eden representative or visit the membership page.  

What happens if I cannot use my membership in the current month?
A membership service may be rolled over to the following month.

How do I cancel a membership?
Memberships may be canceled after the initial one year term has been fulfilled.  If memberships are cancelled prior to one year, an early termination fee of $99 will be charged.  After the fulfillment of the one year contract, billing will be month to month.  Members must cancel their membership in writing 30 days prior to the next billing cycle.

What is the minimum age requirement?
Massages, body treatments, facials and waxing are available to guests 18 years and older.  Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and have signed a written consent form.

What if I have a special need or a health condition?
Please advise the receptionist at the time of your appointment and upon arrival of any special needs or health conditions.  Eden will do their very best to accommodate you.  The spa is wheelchair accessible.

Are reservations required?
Reservations are not required but encouraged.  Walk-ins are welcome if space is available.

What should I bring to the spa?
You will need a valid form of identification (driver’s license or passport).  All clients will be provided with robes, facial gowns and socks.

Where do I put my personal belongings?
We advise clients to leave any valuables or jewelry at home.  Eden is not responsible for any lost or stolen property.

How much time should I allow before my appointment?
To fully enjoy your treatment or treatments, we recommend you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. This will allow ample time to check in, fill out paperwork (if it is a new service) and change.

Do you offer late appointments?
We have extended hours by appointment only.  Please refer to the contact us page for a full listing of spa hours.

Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes, gift certificates may be purchased either in the spa, by clicking here, or by calling (626) 335 – 5200.

I have a gift certificate for $100, but have only used $90 in services.  May I receive a cash refund for the difference?
Gift certificates that are not used in full may be applied toward another service or product purchase at a later date.  Cash refunds will not be granted.  Gift certificates that are purchased for a special or a promotion have a one year expiration date, although the dollar amount does not expire.

May I bring alcohol to Eden?
In order to stay true to our wellness philosophy and ensure the safety of all our guests, alcohol is not permitted on the premises.

What is your cancellation policy?
At Eden, we have reserved an appointment especially for you.  We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in regards to our cancellation policy.  No-shows and appointment cancellations less than 24 hours will be charged the full value of the service reserved, and/or any gift certificate associated with the service will be considered redeemed.  Emergencies and illness will be evaluated by Eden management on a case by case basis.

Is it customary to leave a gratuity?
The service price does not include gratuity.  If your experience was enjoyable, it is customary to tip your esthetician or therapist.  Gratuity envelopes are available at the front desk.  If you did not enjoy your service, please speak with an Eden manager.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – SPA SERVICES

How Does the Contour Body Wrap Work?
The M’lis Professional Contour Wrap may be used in the following two ways:  for inch loss or for detoxification and lymphatic cleansing.  The contour body wrap helps to free and remove trapped waste in the connective tissue, eliminate internal disfiguring deposits and stimulate inch loss.  Wraps are often sold in a series of treatments or in combination with a herbal detox program to maximize inch loss and cleansing.  The contour cream helps stimulate the lymphatic circulation while the plastic wrap acts as an acupressure to push the lymphatic fluid up into the thoracic valve, circulating the toxins back into the blood stream to be filtered out through the liver and the kidneys.  This promotes permanent inch loss. The 60-90 minute process is not a water loss, as clients do not sweat, nor does it contain chemicals or dehydrating ingredients.  Clients may wear their own swimwear or a spa bra and panties (swim short trunks for men).  Do not apply any lotions or perfumes and we do not recommend clients shave prior to the wrap.  If you are allergic to niacin, please allow an Eden Wellness Mentor to find an appropriate detox treatment for you.

I am pregnant and/or nursing; what services and products should I avoid?
Pregnant and nursing mothers should not detoxify because the elimination of toxins will go directly to the baby.  Detoxifying services include the Contour Body Wrap and Ionic Foot Detox.  In addition, ask for the Pregnancy Massage to prevent preterm labor.  One should not take any of the M’lis detox herbs and check with your physician about products that include benzyl peroxide or any alpha hydroxyl acids. 

What brand of skin care products do you use during treatment and recommend for daily use? 
Eden’s product selection during a treatment includes:  glo therapeutics, Only Yours Skin Care and M’lis Skin Care.  Allow an esthetician or therapist to recommend the best products for your needs.

Are extractions included in your facials?
Yes, extractions are an important part of a successful treatment.  The extent of extractions will depend on the type and length of the facial.  An Eden esthetician will be able to recommend the best treatment for your skin type.

Can anyone have facial waxing?
No.  Please advise the receptionist when scheduling your appointment if you use any prescribed acne medications or anti-aging serums or creams.  You may be advised to tweeze instead of wax or discontinue product use for a period of time before your appointment.

How should I prepare for a waxing appointment?
Hair should be at least ¼ inches long for a successful service.  If you are unsure, you may stop by Eden the day prior to your appointment to have an esthetician check.  Thorough cleansing prior to a bikini wax service is advised.

Do you have any requirements for shaving, contact lenses or for pregnant women?
Yes.  We recommend that you do not shave your legs prior to a contour body wrap as doing so can make the product sting.  It is also better for men not to shave right before a facial for the same reason.  Removal of contact lenses is recommended to avoid any discomfort during a facial treatment.  For pregnant women we tilt the facial bed up as needed. 

What brand of make-up does Eden carry?
Eden carries the glo Minerals make-up line due to its mineral quality.  It is triple milled, comes in either pressed, loose, or in a liquid form with many color options.  glo Minerals will not congest the skin and reflects the light to make imperfections disappear.  Clients often comment that glo Minerals has amazing coverage and they do not feel like they are wearing make-up.  In addition it does not contain any lead or other chemicals, it is 100% natural.

What products can I buy online?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – DETOXIFICATION

Can anyone detoxify?
The M’lis programs are scientifically designed to promote weight loss and wellness in a safe and successful manner.  It is advisable for any client with the following circumstances to consult with their physician before beginning a program:  presently under a physician’s care, on prescribed medication, pregnant, lactating, older than 65, cardiovascular conditions, kidney disease, diabetes, hypoglycemia, gout, chronic infections, or any other type of serious medical condition.  One of our certified wellness mentors can guide you through this process to check for any contra-indications. 

How do I know if I need to detox?
Below is a list of symptoms that may indicate the body is toxic.  For additional information visit the detox information page of our website.

  • Mental confusion, absentmindedness, poor concentration, indecision*

 *Indicates a potential yeast related health issue.  It is important to take a non-invasive Candida screening to ensure success on any program.  

What is an Ionic Foot Detox?
The Ionic Foot Detox uses energized water to help your body detox and feel rejuvenated. Through water ionization, your body will be stimulated to expel and remove any excess toxins in the body.  Clients who are pregnant, nursing, have a pace maker, or have epileptic seizures may not receive this treatment.

What resources do you have available for cancer patients?
We recommend Dr. Linda T. Nelson’s book called “From Surviving to Thriving.”  It is a comprehensive resource to help rebuild the immune system after cancer treatments and to help you live a preventive cancer lifestyle.  These books are available at Eden or you may speak with a certified wellness mentor for additional information.

Do you carry nutritional supplements?
Yes, Eden carries the M’lis brand of supplements and herbs.  M’lis detox herbs and supplements are formulated to work synergistically together.  This ensures balance and 100% assimilation.  M’lis upholds a very high Japanese standard that does not allow for more than .002% filler (brown rice flour) in their products.   In addition, M’lis uses 100% organic herbs in a FDA certified lab.  It is recommended that clients consult with a physician before beginning any supplements.

I purchase my supplements at the local store.  What is the M’lis difference?

Is there a liquid period on the detox program?
Yes, there is a liquid period on the detox program.  It is designed in conjunction with the detox herbs to help the body flush toxins that are pulled from the organs and connective tissues of the body.  Liquid days by themselves without the proper supplements is a crash diet and will result in lean muscle mass loss.  If the weight is gained back, the body will have a higher amount of fat to lean ratio.  Eden’s liquid period is diabetic/hypoglycemic friendly. 

Do you offer colonics or use laxatives?
No, Eden does not offer colonics or laxatives.  The colon is a muscle and having a colonic or taking a laxative is similar to going to the gym and having the trainer move your body for you.  There is not progress without resistance.  In addition, friendly bacteria are flushed out and will weaken the immune system significantly.  The only time a colonic is recommended is if you have a serious blockage that lasts more than several days and cannot be loosened by massage.    

What is a healing crisis and will I have one on the program?
Yes, each individual will experience a healing crisis.  The intensity of the healing crises will be contingent on prior illness.  Please click the link to read more information on Herring’s Law of Natural Healing. 

While on a detox program, who do I contact with any questions or concerns?
You will be assigned a certified Eden Wellness Mentor with their contact information. Your wellness mentor will be providing support to you during your program.

What is Candida?
Yeast is a living organism within the body that can grow from exposure to poor nutrition, environmental pollutants, antibiotics, steroids (cortisone) and stress.  Candida is the result of an over-infestation of yeast in the body.  When Candida is present, the body will crave sugar, bread and alcohol.  Several common complaints of individuals who suffer from Candida are:  inability to lose weight, daily fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, depression, PMS and hormonal imbalances.  It is also common to get every “bug” that comes around, allergies, eczema and acne.  Candida may also impact mental faculties with a lack of concentration, foggy thought process or memory loss.  If any of these symptoms sound familiar, we are here to help!  Click here to take an easy Candida screening self test.
